  • In partnership with the MacColl Institute for Healthcare Innovation, we’re leading the Safety Net Medical Home Initiative (SNMHI), a five year initiative sponsored by The Commonwealth Fund, to accelerate patient-centered medical home (PCMH) transformation in 65 practices around the country. We help practices improve clinical quality and safety, patient experience, and provider and staff satisfaction while also reducing health system cost.

    Also, under our Medicare Quality Improvement Organization contract, we’re preparing to launch the next phase of our work aimed at activating patients, engaging care providers, and joining forces with community organizations to reduce unnecessary hospital readmissions. Previously, we led a pilot project focused on care transitions in Whatcom County, Washington and are ready to bring similar projects to communities throughout Idaho and Washington.

    We have two internships available to assist these programs with policy analysis and communications. These internships require a commitment of at least 160 hours (up to a maximum of 320 hours) during the Spring, Summer, and Fall academic terms.

    Typical Accountabilities:

    • Develop presentations on practice transformation and policy topics for public dissemination.
    • Conduct environmental scans and policy analyses and synthesize findings.
    • Develop reports on policy topics.
    • Develop fact sheets on key program findings.
    • Conduct literature reviews to support project publications.
    • Author articles for project newsletter or other publications.
    • Other support tasks, as needed.

    The work will be performed at our corporate office, located at 10700 Meridian Ave. N., in Seattle.  The rate of pay is $14 per hour.
