Updated Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Review Criteria
For All Facilities Providing Alaska Medicaid Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Services

Effective April 15, 2009, the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services, Behavioral Health will require the application of updated criteria during the review process for all acute inpatient psychiatric admissions and continued stays. The criteria set currently in use has been updated by the State in keeping with both the regulatory and clinical requirements for acute inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. The updated Acute Care Medical Necessity Criteria (effective April 15, 2009) is now available review.
