TEFRA (Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 1982) is a Medicaid program for children (under 19 years old) with disabilities and significant medical, developmental or psychiatric needs. This Medicaid program was developed with specialized requirements that may allow children, who would not typically qualify for Medicaid (because of family income), to receive Medicaid benefits.
Please note however, not all children who are determined disabled or have high medical costs qualify for this program.
Qualis Health is contracted by the State of Alaska, Division of Public Assistance (DPA) to perform application reviews. We help determine if a child meets the medical, developmental or psychiatric requirements for this program. The DPA administers the contract and the DPA Long Term Care Coordinator provides contract management and oversight.
