Lori Whittaker, PhD, MD, MPH, FAAFP

Dr. Lori Whittaker is a Quality Improvement Consultant for the Puget Sound Health Alliance (PSHA) in Seattle, Washington, where she leads clinical improvement teams focused on issues related to heart disease, depression, prescription drugs, prevention and asthma. She is also a practicing family physician at Swedish Physicians West Seattle.

Dr. Whittaker has previously served as a Staff Assistant in Healthcare and Social Services to Congressman Jim McDermott, focusing on local and regional legislative issues concerning healthcare, Social Security, disabilities, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, bioterrorism and federal pensions. She has practiced as a family physician at Highline Medical Enterprises in Seattle, WA; Birth and Family Clinic, Stevens Primecare in Edmonds, WA; and provided medical and obstetrical care in hospital and outpatient facilities to the residents of Inuvik, NWT, through the Inuvik Regional Medical Center in Canada. She has also worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Gynecological Oncology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center and as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine, both in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Whittaker holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Washington School of Public Health in Seattle, Washington. She earned a Doctor of Medicine, Master of Surgery (MDCM) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She completed her residency in family medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

She is currently a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Washington State Academy of Family Physicians, the University of Washington School of Public Health Alumni Advisory Board, Healthcare for All – Washington and the Seattle King County Public Health Reserve Corps.
