Robert S. West, MD, FACS

Robert West, MD, serves as the Kootenai County Coroner in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and has been a member of the Board of Directors of Qualis Health since 1988.

A native of North Dakota, Dr. West earned both BA and BS (Med) degrees from the University of North Dakota, then graduated from Harvard Medical School. He served an internship with the US Naval Hospital in Chelsea, Mass. and a surgical residency at the University of Vermont Medical Center Hospitals.

Dr. West is licensed to practice medicine in Idaho. He was in private surgical practice in Coeur d’Alene from 1969 to 2003, and has served as the county coroner since 1984. He also has been a senior aviation medical examiner with the Federal Aviation Administration since 1975.

He is a member of numerous medical societies including the American College of Surgeons, Spokane Surgical Society, American Trauma Society, American Medical Association and the Idaho Medical Association. He was elected to the Qualis Health Board of Directors in 1988.

His community activities have included the Coeur d’Alene School District, North Idaho College Foundation, Kootenai YMCA and Kiwanis International.
