Joyce Shaw is the Vice President of Corporate Communications at Qualis Health, an independent, private, nonprofit healthcare quality improvement and care management organization headquartered in Seattle, Washington. She oversees press relations, all corporate print and online media, as well as Qualis Health’s annual Report to the Community.

Qualis Health’s services include support of quality and safety initiatives, care management, health information technology and business process improvement consulting, and health services research and evaluation. Qualis Health holds Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) contracts in two states, contracts with five state Medicaid agencies and services many other public and private sector organizations.

Prior to joining Qualis Health in 2007, Ms. Shaw served in multiple senior communications leadership positions across hospital and physician practice settings in Washington and California. In Washington, she was the Director of Marketing and Community Relations at Valley Medical Center and, prior to that, was the Director of Marketing and Community Relations at Overlake Hospital Medical Center. In California, Ms. Shaw was Vice President of Marketing Communications for Catholic Healthcare West, held marketing director positions at Medpartners, Inc. and Primecare Medical Group Network and owned her own public relations firm, LaBossiere and Associates, in Laguna Beach for five years.

Ms. Shaw holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the Annenberg School of Communication at the University of Southern California (USC). She is a member of the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development, the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Health Academy and the American Marketing Association. She is also active in alumni affairs for USC.
