Karl B. Kurtz, Secretary/Treasurer

Karl B. Kurtz, a senior executive with over 40 years of financial expertise and healthcare leadership experience, joined the Qualis Health Board of Directors in 2008.

Mr. Kurtz most recently served as the Director of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, reforming Medicaid operations in the 3000-employee Department. Prior to that, he held the positions of Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho, an institution which was awarded the Qualis Health Award of Excellence in Patient Safety and Healthcare Quality in 2008.

In addition to Qualis Health, Mr. Kurtz currently sits on the boards of the American Public Human Services Association, where he also served as past president, and the Family Medicine Residency of Idaho. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Downtown Boise and Secretary of the Greater Boise Rotary Foundation.

Mr. Kurtz received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Utah State University and completed the Executive Education program at Stanford University. He is a retired Certified Public Accountant.
