Performance Improvement QIO Support Center
(PI QIOSC)

In 2003, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) created a national support center for all and CMS itself in the Quality Improvement Organizations (QIOs) area of performance improvement—the Performance Improvement QIO Support Center (PI QIOSC). The PI QIOSC is addressing several CMS priorities.

The Performance Improvement QIOSC initiatives include the following:

  1. Training and support by national experts in lean as well as other time-tested improvement methodologies;
  2. Administration and support of a national learning management system (LMS); http://elearning.qualitynet.org
  3. Coordination of Transformational Grand Rounds;
  4. Moderation of the Internal Quality Control (IQC) and Performance Improvement/Collaborative communities of practice;
  5. Facilitation of the QIOSC network, QIOSC Guidance Group, and QIO Mentoring Program;
  6. Other activities as identified by the community.

The Performance Improvement QIOSC offers QIOs the opportunity to take advantage of services proven to rapidly and efficiently produce results supporting achievement of CMS 8th SOW objectives.
