Meghan Donohue to Present to Skilled Nursing Facility Leaders
On February 23, Qualis Health Analytic Principal Meghan Donohue will conduct a session for skilled nursing facility leaders at the Washington Health Care Association Winter Conference. In "Using Data to Drive Improvement," Meghan will discuss how nursing homes can succeed in the new era of Medicare value-based purchasing by using data to identify and address quality improvement opportunities.

Take Advantage of Two Fresh Telepsychiatry Tools
Many primary care providers are considering telepsychiatry to manage increasing numbers of patients with mental health and substance abuse issues. Two resources from the Healthier Washington Practice Transformation Hub are now available to help with that decision. “Key Considerations for Implementing Telepsychiatry Services” is a six-page guide that discusses key issues for practices to evaluate and offers links to more in-depth information. The “Telepsychiatry Success in Omak, Washington” video shows how one rural primary care clinic uses telepsychiatry to reduce stigma and access issues for their patients who need behavioral healthcare services.

Nursing Home Quality Care Collaborative Enters Second Year
Qualis Health’s 2017–2018 Nursing Home Quality Care Collaborative (NHQCC) will begin its second year with a webinar for participants on January 25. A part of our Medicare QIN-QIO contract, the NHQCC helps facilities in Idaho and Washington State with quality improvement initiatives through training, collaboration, coaching and other support. Qualis Health AMCCI Work Cited in USA Today
As a partner of the Alaska Medicaid Coordinated Care Initiative (AMCCI), Qualis Health provides in-person case management for people with complex care needs who are high emergency room utilizers. Our work with AMCCI, which has helped reduce costs, was included in the National Governors Association report, “Building Complex Care Programs: A Roadmap for States,” and cited in a December 5 USA Today article, “Study: States get big Medicaid savings from social services, outreach to sickest patients.”

Qualis Health Appoints New Vice President of Human Resources
Steven R. Brown has joined Qualis Health as Vice President of Human Resources. Before coming to Qualis Health, Mr. Brown provided human resources and organizational development consulting services to private sector clients such as Juno Therapeutics, Indi Molecular and OncoGenex Pharmaceuticals. He also held human resources leadership roles at the National Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Association, Integrated Diagnostics, Casey Family Programs and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.
