Dan Lessler, M.D., M.H.A., serves as Qualis Health’s physician executive for community engagement and leadership. His responsibilities include working with our Medicaid contracts to identify and implement strategies that will improve the quality and reduce the cost of care for complex patient populations. Dr. Lessler is also a clinical professor at the University of Washington’s School of Public Health.

Previously, Dr. Lessler was the chief medical officer for the Washington State Health Care Authority, where he led successful statewide efforts to reduce unnecessary emergency room visits, address the opioid public health crisis and create innovative value-based purchasing strategies. He also helped spearhead the integration of physical and behavioral health for managed care clients as the state moved to a whole-person approach to care.

Dr. Lessler worked in public hospital systems for more than two decades and is passionate about improving the coordination of medical care and social services for complex patients.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in human biology and a medical degree from Stanford University, as well as a master’s degree in health administration from the University of Washington. A father of two adult sons, Dr. Lessler lives in Seattle with his wife.
