Seattle, WA - Qualis Health presented the 2010 Awards of Excellence in Healthcare Quality today, recognizing nine Washington State healthcare organizations. Since 2002, the Awards of Excellence in Healthcare Quality have recognized organizations in Washington that have made significant contributions to healthcare through innovative, measurable improvements in care.
The awards were presented during a luncheon ceremony at the 2011 Annual Northwest Patient Safety Conference, hosted by the Washington Patient Safety Coalition. Jonathan Sugarman, MD, MPH, President and CEO of Qualis Health, presented the awards to the nine healthcare organizations that were selected from this year's submissions.
"Across the country, healthcare providers are working to implement three important aims: improved care of individual patients, better health of populations and reduced per capita costs," stated Jonathan Sugarman, MD, MPH, President and CEO of Qualis Health. "The endeavors of the organizations we are honoring today targeted improvements in all three areas."
This year's awards recognized accomplishments in hospital, outpatient and long term care settings. Qualis Health received a record-breaking number of submissions.
Three awardees delivered presentations on the success, challenges and outcomes of their projects at the conference after the awards ceremony. The presentations were given by Harborview Medical Center, University of Washington Medical Center and Virginia Mason Medical Center, whose applications were scored most highly by a panel including 12 community experts.
