Qualis Health Wins Three-Year Contract to Continue as the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Idaho and Washington

Seattle, WA – Qualis Health has been awarded two three-year contracts by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to serve as the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for the states of Idaho and Washington. The contracts began August 1, 2011, pursuing bold goals for achieving better patient care, better patient and population health and lower costs through improvement.

Jonathan Sugarman, MD, MPH, President and CEO of Qualis Health, recognized that Medicare's quality initiatives are designed to achieve meaningful change. "In our role as the Medicare QIO, we have contributed to improved healthcare in this region for over 25 years. We are privileged to continue serving the 1.2 million Medicare beneficiaries in Idaho and Washington."

The QIO Program is a major force and partner for the continual improvement of health and healthcare for all Americans, achieving national quality goals through a network of QIOs that convene local communities for learning and action. In Idaho and Washington, Qualis Health is a primary resource for healthcare quality, presenting each state's annual Awards of Excellence in Healthcare Quality. Qualis Health also serves as the Washington & Idaho Regional Extension Center for Health Information Technology (WIREC), assisting medical practices improve patient care through meaningful use of electronic health records.
